What is the interval between sessions ?

The interval between sessions is related to the hair cycle because it plays a very important role in the effectiveness of the treatment. Hairs have a regular cycle of life: growth, transition, and finally expulsion. The life cycle of hair varies depending on the anatomical site (where it is located on the body), genetic factors, medication, hormones and previous hair removal methods. Each cycle has 3 phases (anagen, catagen and telogen) that are not synchronized. Some hair phases take longer than others, which is why you will need several permanent hair removal sessions (all technologies combined) to target all the hairs in the area to be treated. Indeed, it is during the anagen phase (the period of hair growth, when the hair is attached to the root of the hair follicle in the dermal papilla) that we successfully destroy the hair. However, during a treatment, you only have about 10% of your hair in this active phase. It will take about ten sessions to destroy all your hair. Beware of centers that promise laser hair removal in 6 sessions or less. This number of sessions is not sufficient and even less realistic to reach all your hairs according to the natural hair growth cycle. The time between sessions is therefore 4 weeks, in order to maximize the chance of capturing a greater portion of active hairs during your visits, thus giving an optimal result during each of your appointments. It is very important to keep in mind that regular appointments are the key to success. It is possible that at the end of the treatment, due to the cumulative effect of the sessions, your hair may grow less quickly. Your sessions can then be spaced out up to 6 to 8 weeks apart. Your technician will judge this during your visits.

How do I prepare for a session ?

Firstly, you should avoid pulling hair out with wax, tweezers, thread, and electric epilators 2 to 3 weeks prior to your IPL laser hair removal appointment.We obviously need hair for the treatment. The hair acts as a conductor of energy to the follicle. The hair is filled with melanin (a chromophore) which attracts the light. The hair absorbs the energy from the IPL laser light. This absorbed energy is converted into thermal energy (heat) and transported to the hair bulb (root). Thus, no treatment is possible until the hair starts growing again if it’s been pulled from the root. You can, however, shave or trim your hair without any problem.

If I have a change in my health status, do I need to notify my technician ?

Before each session, your certified technician will ask you this question. If your health condition has changed or if you are taking any new medications or supplements, you should let her know. These changes can affect the treatment as well as the results, for example, if you are taking a photosensitizing medication (such as an antibiotic) that makes your skin photosensitive, we may burn you. Certain medications or supplements that promote hair growth can affect the final result (like collagen and biotin, for example). It is important that you notify us of any new health concerns so that we can adapt to inform you of the possible effects. Certain health conditions may also present a greater risk of adverse effects, such as if you have herpes. Following a session, it is possible to have symptoms of this condition. If the technician is aware of this before the treatment, she will adjust the treatment accordingly.

Is the application of a gel necessary during a session ?

Our technology has a cooling tip that when pressed against the skin cools it enough to soothe the treated areas during the treatment. The gel that is sometimes used with some technologies is only used to cool the skin during the session. With experience, we find that the gel, a few minutes after application, is no longer cold at all, it has warmed up to the temperature of the skin and therefore no longer has its main purpose. Moreover, the sticky sensation that the gel leaves after use is unpleasant.

This is why we opted for the cooling tip, which allows for a constant cooling of the skin and a more pleasant comfort at the end of the sessions.

Why is it necessary to have several treatments ?

All forms of permanent hair removal act on the hair follicles by gradually eliminating the hair. Hair growth occurs in three phases: anagen (the active phase), catagen (the transition phase), and telogen (the resting phase where it falls out). In the anagen phase, the cells reproduce through a process called mitosis. The cells are then keratinized to form a hair. In the catagen phase, the lower part of the hair rises upwards in the follicle where it is expelled. The bulb (the root) separates from the dermal papilla and rises to the surface. Finally, in the telogen phase, the hair simply falls out. At the end of the telogen phase, a new hair begins to grow and a new cycle begins. However, since the three phases are not synchronized, the hairs will never be at the same stage of growth at the same time. Since some phases are longer than others, it will take several sessions of IPL laser hair removal to target the maximum amount of hairs in the treated areas. In fact, if 10% of hairs are in the anagen phase at your appointments, 90% of your hair will still be growing after your first appointment. Be wary of centers that promise permanent hair removal in 6 sessions or less. This number of sessions is not enough to treat all of your hair. That’s why professional aesthetic clinics generally recommend an average of 8 to 12 sessions.

If I am pregnant, can I have sessions ?

During pregnancy, many hormonal changes occur which cause, among other things, an increase in your hair growth. Some women even notice that their hair grows faster, thicker and that some hair grows where there was none before. The good news is that almost all of this unwanted hair will disappear when the pregnancy hormones return to normal.

Even though IPL laser hair removal is not dangerous for the pregnant woman or the baby (because the wavelengths used act on the external surface of the skin), we prefer to wait until the hormones are stable for reasons of optimizing results.

Should I cancel my bikini waxing session if I have my period ?

There is no need to cancel your appointment because IPL laser hair removal can be performed even during your period, which does not cause any problems. You can wear a clean tampon or a vaginal cup. There will be feminine wipes at your disposal that you can use before your session for your well-being. This is very common, considering that 98% of our clients are women. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. In addition, it is important to respect the 4-week interval between sessions in order to optimize results. However, if you are uncomfortable, no problem, we understand. We can then schedule your appointments according to your menstrual cycle.

What are the side effects ?

After the treatment, the skin may be red and slightly swollen for a few hours for the vast majority of patients, a sensation of sunburn-like warmth, small scabs and very rarely bruises may be apparent for a few days. What type of skin care is it for ?

The chemical peel is really suitable for all skin types. It can be used on younger skin with a tendency to be oily, so it will be used as a seborrhea regulator. On more mature skin, the chemical peel promotes cell renewal and therefore has an anti-wrinkle and brightening effect. Ideal for dry skin, because once the dead cells are exfoliated, the moisturizing products penetrate the epidermis much better. Our IPL Laser technicians will never be judgmental, they have a variety of techniques they can use to make you feel comfortable, such as keeping your underwear on. If you wish, we can also lend you a towel that can cover you if you are uncomfortable. In addition, we have a policy that the client always keeps the same technician for all her sessions*, to establish a relationship of trust between the two of you and as a bonus you don't have to strip in front of a different technician every time you visit. How long after a session will my hair fall out ?

You should know that immediately after an IPL laser hair removal session, all your hair is still present. Unlike waxing or any other mechanical technique that removes hair and gives you smooth skin instantly, photoepilation leaves all your hair after a session and you even have the impression that it is still growing in the following days. But this is only an impression. It is the skin that does its job of eliminating your hair by rejecting it little by little. It is in fact a natural hair removal mechanism. After the laser treatment, the hair, whose bulb has been destroyed, is gradually ejected from the skin and eventually falls out. The famous and long-awaited hair loss after your laser hair removal treatment will only occur after a few days or even up to 3 weeks. You will also notice that the speed of hair loss also depends on the areas treated; hair in some areas disappears more quickly than in others. Because your hair continues to grow, until it falls out naturally, you can shave it off between sessions if you feel uncomfortable.

Are there any contraindications ?

People with a phototype of 4 to 6 (i.e., dark to black skin) cannot receive this type of treatment with this technology, because the melanin present in their epidermis is in large quantities. It would absorb the light and it would be depigmented. In people with a high phototype, an inflammatory reaction can be observed after the session. This reaction is the cause of unwanted hyperpigmentation. People with skin types 1 to 3 (i.e. fair skin) should avoid exposure to UV rays at all costs, at least 3 weeks before the treatment, during the entire session and at least 3 weeks after the end of the treatment. Tanning is the absolute contraindication that your technician will never ignore. All photosensitizing medications must be mentioned to your technician in order to avoid any risk of unnecessary burns. If your technician is not certain of a pre-cancerous pigmentary lesion (actinic keratosis), she will ask you for a paper from your doctor/dermatologist to perform the treatment safely.

What is a PHA?

PHAs are a group of acids with a larger molecular size: they penetrate less deeply into the skin and are therefore ideal for skin with certain skin conditions such as dryness. PHAs are the latest acids to be discovered. They are as effective as AHAs but they exfoliate in a more gentle way. They have a rather high molecular weight so they act mainly on the surface of the skin and they also act on hyperpigmentation. They are also very good humectants (they retain moisture in the skin). They are anti-inflammatory and have antioxidant properties, so they are effective anti-aging ingredients.

At what age can permanent hair removal treatments be started ?

There is no minimum age for starting permanent hair removal sessions. However, you should know that the long-term result of permanent hair removal is influenced by hormones, among other things. It is the androgenic hormones (testosterone and dihydrotestosterone) present in both men and women (in different quantities) that stimulate hair growth. The mechanism of hormones on the hair cycle is very complex. It is at puberty that a part of our hair becomes hair (that we can call terminal hair) thanks to the secretions of hormones in the blood. Therefore, it is strongly recommended not to perform laser hair removal until the puberty period is over. To ensure their usefulness and effectiveness, we recommend starting the sessions only when menstruation is regular (or almost regular) in order to stabilize hair growth.

How many sessions are recommended ?

Obviously, the number of microneedling treatments varies for each patient depending on the problem and the area treated. However, results can be seen from the first microneedling treatment. But ideally, to obtain long-lasting and more remarkable results, please plan a course of 3 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to allow time for cell regeneration. The skin structure will continue to improve for 6 to 12 months following the microneedling treatments.
Of course, continuing treatments on a regular basis increases the chances of results and alternating with other skin care treatments is recommended for optimal and long-lasting results. A detailed treatment protocol will be discussed at your first appointment with your specialized technician.

Is microneedling painful ?

Pain is obviously subjective so the answer to this question may vary from person to person. The micropuncture treatment can be sensitive but not really painful. To avoid discomfort, we apply an anesthetic cream before the session. You may feel a tingling effect and some areas may be more sensitive than others, but overall the treatment is very tolerable. There may be some localized micro bleeding during the treatment, this is quite normal. After the microneedling session, some redness may appear and a slight sensation of heat like a sunburn effect may be felt but no post microneedling pain.

Can I do sessions in the summer ?

At Beauté Pure, we promote bikini and underarm treatments over all others. Fortunately, we are able to continue the sessions even in the summer because the treated areas are protected from the sun by the bathing suit. We can therefore safely treat non-tanned areas in the summer! On the other hand, other areas exposed to the sun, such as legs, face, arms, etc. will have to wait until the fall before being treated (or 2 to 3 weeks without exposure to the sun, therefore without active tanning) to reduce the risk of undesirable effects such as burns.

With our Intense Pulsed Light technology, we cannot treat very dark skin (or recently tanned skin) because there is too much risk of burns. Since our light is absorbed by melanin (which is responsible for the dark pigmentation in both the hair and the skin), it could be absorbed by dark or recently tanned skin. For your information, tanned skin is a natural protective reaction of the body to UV rays by stimulating the production of melanin. Therefore, tanned skin is loaded with melanin and will be susceptible to absorbing the light from the photoepilation device and thus causing unwanted burns.

Why do we ask for hair regrowth for the session ?

The reason is quite simple, the hair is our main working tool. In order to properly evaluate the type of hair, the density, the quantity on the areas to be treated as well as the color of your hair, we must have a visual. This is why we ask for a regrowth of 1 to 3 mm for the appointments.

First, this regrowth is used to perform our tests in order to observe the reaction of the hair and to adjust if necessary. For optimal results, the hair must absorb the energy of the light in order to burn the root of the hair. When it has absorbed all the heat as it should, the hair reacts. It is this reaction that tells us that our fluence is adequate for your hair.

Secondly, the belief that freshly shaved hair results in a better treatment is false. The hair acts as a conductor to direct the absorbed energy from the light to the hair bulb to burn it off. We call this principle “heat transfer”: a simple rule of physics where the energy of photons and atoms go from a stable to an unstable state by transferring the heat. So the amount of energy transported from the absorption to the root of the hair is the same. There is no loss of energy on the way between the two points. The easiest analogy to understand is that of an electrical wire. As it passes through the wire, the current is the same from point A to point B. So it's the same principle with hair. It is not because it is long that the energy returned to the bulb is less strong, it remains exactly the same.

In addition, the regrowth assures us that our treatment is adapted to your hair and it also serves as a guide. Seeing all of them, we can be sure that we have treated the entire area and that none of them are left out. Unlike other methods, which require that the treated areas be freshly shaved, we see exactly where the hair is located. The entire area is therefore treated.

Working blind, that is to say without being able to see our main working tool (the hair) can result in the intensity chosen not being appropriate for your hair and the surface not being completely treated. So at Beauté Pure, since 2010, we have been asking for hair regrowth in order to have the best possible results because customer satisfaction is our primary goal.

Can peach fuzz or vellus hairs be treated ?

The color of the hair will be the key element in determining whether or not we can treat it. Like any dark hair (medium to black), the melanin in it will absorb the energy of the photoepilation device to burn its root. It is true that a fuzz is a smaller target, much finer than a hair, so it is necessary to use a higher heat intensity. The density of the hair (a fuzz in this case) has no influence on the result. It is only the color of the hair that changes the degree of absorption and therefore the result. A dark to black down has as much chance of success as a hair. On the other hand, a light to blond fuzz will not work.

Can blond hair be treated ?

The answer varies depending on your blonde hair and the amount of it. The melanin in a blonde hair is in the same family as a dark brown hair. Eumelanin is a brown to black pigmentation. A small amount of brown eumelanin and the absence of other pigments results in blond hair. Therefore, on blond hairs, the results are variable and very inconclusive. During your consultation with one of our specialized technicians, she will be able to evaluate the color of your hair and tell you if this type of hair removal is for you. What are the different types of vascular lesions ?

Ruby spots: this is a red micro papule in the form of a small red spot, a few millimeters in diameter. It is the result of a capillary dilatation which took place under the skin at the level of the dermis. The ruby dot is related to a vascular malformation that can be caused by an abnormal dilation of the blood vessels. It is often in relief and its diameter varies between 2mm and 9mm. It doesn't lighten under pressure.

Stellate angiomas: These are small ruby red spots consisting of a central dilated vessel surrounded by thinner dilated capillaries similar to the legs of a spider. Stellate angiomas are tiny blood vessels that have grown larger than normal

Telangiectasias are small blood vessels that are permanently dilated or burst. The dilation of the venules causes very fine red lines to appear on the skin. Vessels suffering from telangiectasia dilate abnormally, which explains their visibility. This dilation is the result of a weakening of the wall (at the level of the elastic fibers).

Erythrosis: this is continuous and homogeneous diffuse redness without visible vessels. It often causes aesthetic problems, but is not dangerous. The origin of this reddish appearance is generally localized to the face. It appears in the form of hot flashes, extreme emotionality (the famous red cheeks), and intense physical activity. The phenomenon is the vasodilation of superficial vessels in sudden and localized circumstances (example: immediate dilation of facial vessels in shy or emotional people) forming erythema in the face.

Are you afraid of needles ?

The microneedling device uses medical micro-needles, which are very thin (nano-needles) and penetrate only 0.1 to 0.3 mm into the skin. The rapid oscillating movement of the needles does not give the same feeling as a shot or a vaccination. You should know that the device is equipped with a tip with several micro-needles stuck on each other (single use) so the sensation is more of a tingling effect. There are several qualities of micro-needles, we use very fine needles of medical grade of gauge 33 which do not leave any mark on the skin tissue. They create a micro-channel and not a micro-tear like some other brands.

Is pulsed light really permanent hair removal ?

This is by far THE most frequently asked question! In all transparency, for the hairs that we have reached the follicle, the answer is YES. Is it all the hair? The answer is NO!
The photoepilation technique consists of emitting a beam of light at a precise wavelength and directly targeting the melanin in the hair, without damaging any surrounding skin structure. Inside the hair follicle, the light is transformed into heat, which is sufficient to burn the bulb, thus cauterizing the small feeder vessels that supply the germ cells. Therefore, when the matrix is destroyed, the hair will never grow back. We can then say that this hair is destroyed permanently. With a series of treatments, we can permanently eliminate about 80% of your hair with both pulsed light and the more traditional laser. However, you must always keep in mind that hormones play a very big role in the growth of new hair. As soon as there is a hormonal imbalance, as small as a change in birth control pills for example, it is very likely that new hair will grow. It is important not to confuse the appearance of new hairs with those previously destroyed.

What is the purpose of the consultation?

The consultation is an important step in your research for permanent hair removal treatments. Before beginning an IPL laser hair removal treatment, a consultation with a certified technician is mandatory. It allows you to ask all your practical questions (the degree of discomfort, the duration of a session, the frequency of sessions, the possibility of shaving after the sessions, etc.) and also to learn about the procedure for an IPL laser hair removal session. There are no silly or embarrassing questions; the laser technician will make it her duty to answer all your questions and concerns. The consultation is essential to establish a bond of trust for future treatments. During the consultation, you will be asked to fill out a health assessment and a questionnaire in order to ensure the feasibility and compatibility of the treatment. The color of your hair is the main factor that determines this. During this interview, the specialized technician will also discuss all possible contraindications and the precautions to be taken before and after a laser hair removal session. The discussions during this consultation will help define what is possible and what is not, in order to determine the reasonable results that can be expected from IPL laser hair removal sessions. It is important that the client and the laser technician understand each other so that the permanent hair removal treatment will be a success, thus avoiding any disappointment. What type of bikini should I choose ?

The selection of the style of bikini desired is up to the client. However, we can guide you by explaining the different styles possible.

We can perform a bikini that is called '' regular '' . This includes only the hair that extends past the sides of a bathing suit. We use the term ''  complete bikini '' to refer to the removal of hair that is slightly inside the bikini line, going over the sides of the bikini and a small part of the thighs. The extent of the complete bikini is customized according to the client's request. The complete bikini does not include the pubic lips or the gluteal area. However, if you wish, it is possible to treat these areas. You have the option of leaving an amount of hair on top of your pubic area in any shape you desire. The most common patterns are a rectangle (also sometimes called a subway ticket), a triangle or a small line. We use the term '' hollywood  bikini '' to refer to full hair removal. This includes the groin, pubic hair, inside and outside of the vaginal lips, the interfessial fold up to the anus and the navel line. You can, without any problem, personalize your complete bikini by choosing to do only the pubic area and the vaginal lips or only the vaginal lips and the intergluteal fold. Another example is the '' Brazilian bikini ''. It consists of removing hair from the pubic area in a very low cut, leaving a small triangle that stops just above the vulva, completely removing the hair from the labia majora and the gluteal fold.

No matter what term you use, we always recommend removing the hair from the areas outside your design to be visually satisfied with your final result. Ideally. Don't let embarrassment stop you from choosing your preference.

Can I put on deodorant before my appointment ?

At Beauté Pure, we allow our clients to use deodorants or antiperspirants before their session. Some institutions recommend the opposite, stating that the aluminum salt in most antiperspirants clogs the pores of the skin, resulting in poor heat distribution and does not destroy the hair bulb. So far, no scientific study has proven this theory beyond any doubt. Based on the basic principle of IPL hair removal, the light energy is absorbed by the hair and transported to the hair bulb. Whether or not the skin pores are blocked, the heat is circulated through the hair. However, if you tend to have sensitive skin or skin that becomes irritated easily, we do not suggest putting on deodorant and/or antiperspirant after the session to avoid unnecessary irritation. This is only for comfort and not for results.

How much hair is lost per session ?

When an IPL laser hair removal treatment is performed, all dark hairs absorb the light energy. However, only those in the active regrowth phase will be destroyed at the root. The anagen phase (active phase) is the hair growth phase. It is during this phase that the hair shaft is attached to the hair bulb, which is responsible for feeding the cells that form a hair with very small vessels. When melanin absorbs the heat from the radiation, it is transported to the hair bulb and burns the vessels that feed the newborn hair. If there are no more nutrients to support the growth of hair, no more hair can grow. On average, only 10% of hairs are in the active phase when a treatment is performed. So, theoretically, about 10% of our hair will not grow back after each session.

Is the chemical peel treatment painful ?

The chemical facial is not painful. There is a slight tingling sensation and heat on the skin depending on the intensity of the product used, however these discomforts usually subside once the neutralizing solution is applied. In addition, we mainly use PHA (poly hydroxy acid) which is less irritating than most standard AHA peels and causes a burning sensation. You can return to your daily activities immediately after a chemical peel.

What is treated with photorejuvenation ?

IPL photorejuvenation can simultaneously treat the following problems: pigmentary anomalies often in the form of hyperpigmentation brown spots and vascular anomalies often in the form of redness. Common pigmentation concerns are, sun spots (caused by prolonged exposure to UV rays), age spots, melasma or pregnancy mask (brown spots associated with hormonal imbalance) and ephelides (freckles). Common vascular concerns are, erythrosis (temporary redness), rosacea (diffuse redness often accompanied by telangiectasias), rosacea (chronic inflammation sometimes accompanied by pustules and papules), stellar angiomas (small veins burst in the shape of a star), point of ruby (red point) and telangiectasias (small dilated blood vessels).

How many treatments are needed ?
